DIPSAR is Founded in 1964 as Department of Pharmacy of the Kashmere gate Polytechnic for
imparting Diploma education in Pharmacy, the institute has moved to the present
campus in 1979.

Courses Available:
The College awards bachelors, Masters and doctoral degrees
in Pharmacy under University of Delhi, in addition to D. Pharmacy course.
College imparts master's degree in various specializations
viz. Pharmacology, Pharmaceutics,Hospital Pharmacy and Quality Assurance,
M.Pharm. Courses and Ph.D programme are recognized by All India Council for
Technical Education.
The institute has submitted application to University
of Delhi for starting of new M. Pharm Courses i.e Pharmaceutical Management,
Chemistry, Regulatory affairs and Herbal Drug Technology for the academic
year 2005-06.
The Institute is well recognised for the research leading to doctoral degree in pharmacy. The institute is recognised by AICTE under quality improvement program for updating the qualification of the existing faculty to M. Ph. and Ph. D.
Enrollment:
The Institute is one of the best Ph armacy Institute in India, with a strength of
approximately 500 students.Till date the numbers of candidates passing out from
the various courses are: (over 2200 D. Pharm. 325 M.
Pharm and a dozen Ph. D’s have been produced by the institute for a bright
rich career in pharmacy.)
Approval and Affiliation
The institute has been approved by AICTE for an intake 45
in B. Pharm & an intake of 60 in D. Pharm. However intake has been increased
to 60 in B. Pharm from academic year 2004-05 vide letter No. 765-61-20(PJE7/95
dated 30.04.03 of AICTE and 120 intakes has been approved from academic year
2004-05. Vide PCI letter No. 17-28/98/PCG 826-27 dated 30.04.04.
The institute has been affiliated to University of Delhi
for D. Pharm., B. Pharm courses and is recognized as the faculty of Pharmaceutical
Sciences of University of Delhi. The courses are approved by Pharmacy council
of India, (PCI) and All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) New Delhi.
The institute offers higher degree courses such as Master
in Pharmacy and Ph. D. under Delhi University.
Faculty:
The faculty for various courses in pharmacy is from all over the country
selected through Union Public Service Commission (UPSC). These intellects have
extensive teaching and research experience. Apart from the regular faculty, the
institute has a very good strength of visiting & guest faculty from institutes
like AIIMS. The total number of faculty members including permanent, guest faculties
and Emeritus Professor taken together are 32.
Location:
DIPSAR is located at South Delhi in a 10.65 Acres campus. The campus is well
designed for a National Level Pharmaceutical Institute with A to Z campus facilities.
College Campus:
College campus encompasses the well furnished and spacious college building, well
established animal facility (registered by committee for the purpose of control
and supervision or Experimentation on Animals vide
registration No. 215/CPCSEA for Breeding and Animal Experimentation), herbal
garden, hostesl, playground, guest-house
and 44 residential quarters for the staff.
SBI ATM counter is provided at the gate.
Four utility shops are provided to meet day to day needs of the students and residents of campus.
To keep pace with the changing needs, the Institute is
putting the following projects in the pipeline:
Construction of Food court, gymnasium swimming pool.
Construction of 8 storeyed
block for Master's Degree. The design is being made
by architect.
Construction of one Type VI and six Type V houses for professors.
The design is being made by architect.
Construction of one more floor on animal house and its connection
with main building.
Placement:
The Institute has active placement cell. We have been having 100% placements in leading national and multinational
pharmaceutical companies and academic institutions of repute at all
levels. i.e. undergraduate, postgraduagte (all branches), Ph D and
diploma level.
All the Bachelors & Masters Pharmacy students are placed
in different multinational and national pharmaceutical companies through campus
interviews before completion of their respective degree. This year also many
campus interviews have been conducted in the college by reputed companies viz.
Panacea Biotec Ltd., Promed Exports life Medicare, Raptacos, Aventis, Sun Pharma,
Win Medicare, Lexorbis plus creations, Nicholas Piramal, Morpen Laboratories
etc.
The Academic Activities
The academic activities range from classroom
learning, practical experience in manufacturing, formulating, dispensing and
compounding, analyzing and evaluating the Pharmacological activities of various
drugs.In addition computer knowledge is imparted of under graduate and post graduate levels.
Students are actively involved in their subject learning
by the use of modern electronic gadgets - an enormous information given in a
more understanding way with active student - teacher interactions. The junior
level of teaching faculty are guided by senior professors and the teaching methodology
is updated and properly evaluated.
The students perform excellently well in the University Exams
and the average pass percentage is above 90% in various disciplines.
The periodic student evaluation programmes enable them
to sharpen their knowledge. Besides Pharmacy Education, students are exposed
to leadership training sessions, active involvement in National health programmes,
and Research aptitude. The scheme of training is not only to make book born students
but responsible pharmacists for a stronger society to our nation.
Special Achievements:
College is recognised as centre for Early Faculty Induction
Programme (EFIP), in which fresh PG student will be inducted in the institute
to start their professional life in academics. Six M. Pharm. students of the
institute have been selected this year in the early faculty induction programme
of the AICTE.
The institute has also been recognized in 2004 as centre
for National Doctoral Fellowship by the AICTE. This is the only institute
in this part of country to have this honour of having scholarship @ Rs. 12,000/-
per month with the contingency grant of Rs. 25000/- per year and Over Head
Charges of Rs. 20, 000/- per year per candidate to the institute.
The College is committed in updating academics, participation
in scientific programs and pursuing research projects, in tune with the national
priorities.
The college has been identified as a Quality Improvemnt
Programme sub cell by AICTE for continuing Pharmacy Education to teachers
of various colleges of India to upgrade their knowledge and skills besides
admitting them for career advancement in various disciplines of M. Pharmacy
and Doctorate Programmes.All B. Pharm & M. Pharm. students are placed
in national & international Pharmaceutical companies well before the declaration
of their results through campus interviews.
Majority of students qualify GATE with flying colours
every year. This year too 39 students have secured more than 95 percentile
marks; out of them six have secured more than 99 percentile marks.
Research:
The major research thrust areas are screening &
development of antifertility, hepatoprotective, anti-diabetic, anti-inflammatory
drugs. The development of novel drug delivery systems is also a field of interest.Three
new mini R&D labs have been constructed and are presently being equipped
in order to further boost research. A radio ammino assay lab is also being set
up to aid in quantification of drugs in body fluids.
