Networking the campus

All the major research laboratories, faculty rooms, administration, library, animal house, seminar hall, lecture theaters,auditorium, guest house, etc. are connected by LAN and internet connections have been provided. The Institution has set up facilities for in-houseuse of computer, email and internet services for the students, staff and the faculty. This center provides a variety of services to the students in literature search, computation and graphics. Information technology center provides 24x7 access to internet using 2Mbps of internet bandwidth. The Institute has fiber optic network with switch backbone connecting auditorium, MAPIC centre, Seminar Hall to the main building. The internet bandwidth of 128 Kbps has been upgraded to 2 Mbps (1:3) initially and now to 2Mbps (1:1) recently from ISP-ERNET to allow all the users seamless access to the internet. The network nodes has been increased to 130 nodes cover ing al l research laboratories by expanding the network through structured cabling in all the floors/ research labs of the Institution building. Troubleshooting support is also being provided in resolving network and hardware related problems, along with software support for beginners. The DIPSAR website (www.dipsar.in) has also been improving over the years. The site is easy to navigate, with content features. The site is useful for getting admission related information, admission All the major research laboratories, faculty procedure,prospectus, etc and also particularly for downloading forms, guidelines during admissions and for downloading tender documents, etc. Upgradation further to 10 Mbps broadband connectivity with addition of new computers to various labs along with provision of internet facility to entire DIPSAR campus including Boys and Girls common room at respective hostels is under process.
