MAPIC provides accurate, unbiased, factual information to general public, who would like to inform educate themselves, and queries received from various members of the healthcare team such as Doctors, Pharmacists, Nurses, Scientists etc. DIPSAR has established MAPIC in its campus on 4 th May 2005 (inaugurated by Hon'ble Smt. Sheila Dixit, CM. Delhi) for providing information on any aspect of drugs and poisons through electronic databases to scientists and all others to whom it concern. The center is managed by 70 pharmaceutical professionals / scientists of the Institute by rotation from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Queries received by e-mail, phone, post or in person are responded at the earliest.
INFORMATION PROVIDED BY MAPIC: Dosage, Pharmacokinetics (absorption, distribution,
metabolism and excretion), Pharmacodynamics (mechanism of action, main action of drug, etc.),
Toxicology (adverse drug reactions, Drug-food interactions, Drug-drug interactions, etc.),
Cautions, Interactions, Clinical applications, and Comparative drug efficacy and safety with regard
to FDA-approved and investigational drugs, along with over-the-counter and non-U.S. preparations.
POISON MANAGEMENT INFORMATION: All information on Poison-antidotes are provided by
MAPIC.
POPULARIZING THE DEPENDENCE PRODUCING DRUGS: The MAPIC has also started
popularizing the hazards for certain dependence producing drugs. Recently, it has taken the anti-
smoking campaign in a big way.
In addition, the centre also provides authentic information on ADVERSE DRUG REACTIONS on
various drugs. Centre has been regularly receiving and answering queries coming from doctors, pharmacists / nurses / scientists about ADRs occurring after drug administration and these queries are documented. MAPIC encourage people to report any ADR occurring with any drug with details, and also appeal to all doctors and pharmacists to report ADRs occurring.
